2016 Yearly Goals + January Monthly Goals

It's officially 2016! :) Last night I rang in the new year with Jesse and a couple of our close friends at our apartment. This is the only good picture we got last night of us and of course it was a polaroid.

Since it's officially January 1st and the start of 2016 I decided to set goals for the year and then break them up into monthly goals. If I'm being honest I don't really have a good track record with goal setting. Any time I've tried to do it in the past I usually put down way too many things, don't plan well, and get nothing accomplished. Except this year I'm feeling super inspired to goal set because of a book I read called "Make it Happen" by Lara Casey. If you've never heard of it, or her, you should look her up on Instagram and get her book because it's awesome and super helpful. After reading her book I bought something she created called PowerSheets. They're basically just simplified goal-planning sheets to make what matters to you happen. There are a whole lot of helpful things inside, but the best sheet is probably the monthly tending list which is pictured below.

I could go on about how helpful the PowerSheets have been for me, but I'm gonna cut to the chase and get to my 2016 yearly goals + my January goals too.

Yearly Goals:

-grow deeper in love with the Lord
-grow deeper spiritually with Jesse
-have a weekly bible study with Jesse
-memorize 52 different scriptures (one scripture per week)
-read 6 non-school related books
-run a 5K, 10K, and half-marathon
-grow my photography business
-do a mentoring session with another photographer
-survive my first season of shooting weddings (yay!)
-write at least one blog post every week
-eat out less
-go on one mini-vacation or weekend get-a-way
-get my TESOL certification
-survive student teaching
-graduate college (!!!)

That's it for yearly goals! Some of them are a little scary, but overall I think all of them are doable. Hopefully I'll be able to accomplish all of them, but if not that's okay because there's grace. Now that I've shared my yearly goals here are my...

January Goals:

-attend the Passion 2016 Conference in Atlanta
-have weekly bible study with Jesse (every Tuesday night)
-memorize 4 scriptures and have accountability each week at bible study
-read the rest of Discipline by Elisabeth Elliot
-run at least 3 days a week + sign-up for a 5K
-schedule a mentoring session with another photographer
-write at least 4 blog posts
-meal plan each week
-attend student teaching seminar + get prepared for student teaching!

That's it for my goals in 2016 and this month! I wanted to post them on here to help with accountability. Another tool that has been helpful with goal setting is my Simplified Planner. I never used a planner until this past school year and its been a game-changer for me.

I hope this blog post has been helpful in some way and inspired you to set goals of your own! Afterall,

Happy goal setting! :)
