I can't believe it's already June! I'm ready for summer break to slow down. Although nothing big is happening this month I'm still really excited for it, and I'm sure it will be filled with lots of good memories. I've been undisciplined in blogging the last few months, but I'm hoping that will change and I'll breathe life into this space again.
I went back and looked at the yearly goals I set for myself in January, and I was pretty pumped I met a few of them already, including:
- surviving student teaching
- graduating college (woo!)
- going on a little weekend trip (we went to Nashville for our 1 year anniversary)
- running a half marathon (!!!)
I've never sat down and set goals before, but it really does feel good when you follow through with something you set out to do. Hopefully I can knockout some more of them this summer.
Speaking of summer, since it has started I've had way more free time on my hands than usual. Having so much time to do what I want has caused me to get my priorities out of order and fall into choosing my own comfort instead of anything else. I've been choosing to wake up and check social media over spending my mornings seeking God in His word and in prayer. I've been choosing watching the next episode of Parenthood on Netflix over tending to our home. I've been choosing to relax and be comfortable over being intentional and building relationships- and that's not okay. Rest is good, but not if there is only rest and no work. Ephesians 5:16 says:
"Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil."
I've been convicted lately on not using my time in a wise way. One question I've been starting to ask myself throughout the day as I'm doing something is: "Is what I'm doing right now a fruitful use of my time?"
Asking myself that question really does help me keep things in the right perspective. Anyways, that was a random spiel, and now I'll get to my...
-Be disciplined in how I use my time from when I wake up until I go to sleep
-finish editing & sending out 3 weddings from last month
-attend a teaching conference in Atlanta (I'm so excited for this!)
-blog at least 4 times this month
-continue running/working out throughout the week
-continue weekly bible study with Jesse
-relax by using my massage certificate from Valentines Day
-finish reading 1/3 books I've started and haven't finished. (does anyone else struggle with starting to read a book, getting halfway, then starting another one? cause I sure do)
-get my new brand finalized and order my first business cards!
That's all I have for this month! I also wanna wrap up this blog post by saying if you're reading this and ever struggle with getting your priorities mixed up like me- it's okay, there's grace, and productivity can overcome laziness. I'm hopeful this month will be a productive, fruitful, and exciting. :)
